About Us
From a loose gathering of coordinators at FLAVA to a vibrant community of world language educators, VOWLS has grown to become one of the most influential world language advocates in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and one of only three state-wide world language supervisor organizations in the nation.

PRINCIPLES OF EFFECTIVE WORLD LANGUAGE PROGRAMS
The Guiding Document of the National Association of District Supervisors of Foreign Languages (NADSFL), published in 2015, identifies the characteristics of an ideal world language program and recommends leadership behaviors and resources to build and sustain an effective World Language program at the school or district level.
